The State of Black Men in America initiative was founded
by the Princeton University Black Men's Awareness Group in 2005. The initiative
provides the foundation for the annual State of Black Men in America conference.
Open to all college students and also the public, the conferences will benefit
attendees regardless of gender, race, age or sexual orientation.
Through an interdisciplinary approach we intend to explore the social, economic, political and personal pressures and responsibilities that face today’s black man in America. Our mission is to motivate each conference participants to transcend the ordinary by challenging their preconceived notions and ideas. The ideological and economic diversity that will be featured at our conferences guarantees both lively debate and increased awareness about the status of black men in America. It is our hope that the our conferences will provide a glimpse into what it means to be a black male in America.
