We all know the feeling of remembering a time, place or emotion when that certain song comes on. In the video below, Princeton University junior Aisha Oxley takes us on a trip down memory lane to a moment that she fondly remembers in her rendition of her poem "Soul Music." The poem expresses the nostalgia of a moment found at a barbecue with family and friends.
Oxley, who is majoring in history, has been writing from a very young age. As a child, she created picture books, and as she entered high school, she began to write and perform poetry. On campus, she is known not only as a seasoned slam poet but also a dancer and documentary filmmaker. Oxley is also the co-editor-in-chief of The Stripes, an online voice created by Princeton students to discuss race, culture and minority identity.
