Peter Brown, Princeton University's Philip and Beulah Rollins Professor of History Emeritus, has been selected to receive the Balzan Prize for his research on ancient history, specifically the Greco-Roman world. Four Balzan Prizes are awarded annually to recognize scholars, scientists or artists who are internationally distinguished in their fields, and the subject areas change each year. Brown will receive the award, which is accompanied by a prize of 750,000 Swiss francs (currently about $870,000), at a ceremony on Nov. 18 at the Swiss Parliament Building in Bern.
