Valedictorian, salutatorian selected

Holger Staude, an economics(Link is external) major from Frankfurt, Germany, will be the valedictorian for Princeton’s class of 2009, and Stephen Hammer, a classics(Link is external) major from Carrollton, Texas, will be the Latin salutatorian.

The faculty accepted the nominations of the Faculty Committee on Examinations and Standing at its April 27 meeting.

Staude has the highest grade point average in his class, and he has the greatest number of A+ and A grades. In addition to his concentration in economics, he is pursuing three certificates: in finance(Link is external), in musical performance(Link is external) (piano) and in environmental studies(Link is external). He will deliver the valedictory address at Princeton’s Commencement(Link is external) ceremony on Tuesday, June 2.

Hammer stands fourth in the class of 2009. Earlier this year, he was one of 32 American college students selected to receive Rhodes Scholarships to study at the University of Oxford next year. He will deliver the traditional salutatory oration in Latin at Commencement.

Sinha named valedictorian, Bensch-Schaus selected as salutatorian .

Aman Sinha, a mechanical and aerospace engineering major from Ivyland, Pa., has been selected as valedictorian of Princeton University’s Class of 2013. Amelia Bensch-Schaus, a classics major from Swarthmore, Pa., has been named the Latin salutatorian.

Valedictorian Staude shines in the classroom and on the stage .

On his first day of classes as a freshman, Holger Staude received an unexpected invitation. Florent Masse, the instructor of his advanced French course, took Staude aside after class and -- impressed with the German native’s command of the language -- urged him to join the University’s French theater workshop. Staude had never considered acting. Yet, just as he did in deciding to attend Princeton, he accepted the challenge and thrived.

Semenov named valedictorian, Hannan selected as salutatorian .

Misha Semenov, an architecture major from San Francisco, has been selected as valedictorian of Princeton’s Class of 2015. Neil Hannan, a classics major from Manhasset, New York, has been named the Latin salutatorian.
