Power restored to all buildings

Crews worked through the night to restore power to all University buildings affected by Tuesday's outage.

An e-mail was sent at 5 a.m. Wednesday by the facilities department noting that services, including electricity, heat and hot water, have been restored to all dormitories and administrative buildings affected by the outage, which occurred early Tuesday afternoon.

Because of severe storms that moved through the area Monday, Aug. 16, Faculty Road between Washington Road and Harrison Street remains closed, and is expected to be closed throughout the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 17. Faculty, staff and students that typically arrive on campus via Faculty Road and Washington Road should plan alternate routes due to downed tree limbs and power lines. Alexander Road is open, and Washington Road is accessible via Nassau Street.

Campus residents displaced by storms being sheltered in Frist .

Public Safety is assisting residents of the Butler Apartments who were affected by the severe thunderstorms that moved through the area shortly before 5 p.m. Aug. 16 by establishing a shelter in the Frist Multipurpose Room. Cots and toiletries are available, and Dining Services is making food and beverages available to Butler residents who were not allowed to return to their homes.

1:45 P.M. Oct. 31 UPDATE - Roads reopened, power restored after storm .

Individuals traveling to the Princeton University campus may experience delays Monday, Oct. 31, because of road closures caused by the storm that moved trough the area over the weekend. The Stanworth Apartments graduate housing complex also is experiencing power failures.

7:04 P.M. OCT. 30 UPDATE: University limits electricity consumption to critical services only .

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, most buildings on campus are running on limited power from the University’s cogeneration plant, and it is not clear when normal power supply from the public grid will resume. Because of the limited electric power, the University will temporarily close all administrative buildings and most academic and athletic facilities. Access to laboratories will be strictly limited through at least Wednesday, Oct. 31. Decisions about when the University will be fully open will be made on a day-to-day basis.

4:30 P.M. AUG. 26 UPDATE - University closed for non-essential staff during Hurricane Irene .

Because of severe weather expected from Hurricane Irene, Princeton University will be closed except for critical and essential staff beginning at midnight Sunday morning, Aug. 28, and lasting through at least 2 p.m. Sunday. An update will be provided after campus conditions are assessed in the wake of the storm. This weekend, many campus facilities will be closed and various scheduled activities will be cancelled in an effort to ensure the safety and security of individuals on campus.
