Power outage affecting several campus buildings

The University is experiencing a power outage that affects several buildings on campus.

Power is out in these buildings, but is expected to be restored by 5 p.m. Tuesday: Clio, Edwards, Dod, Nassau, Whig and Witherspoon halls, Dillon Gymnasium and Maclean House.

Power also is out in these buildings, and is expected to be restored by Wednesday: Alexander, Blair, Campbell, Holder, Joline, Little and Madison halls and West College.

The outage was caused early Tuesday afternoon by crews working on a pavement project near Edwards Hall.

University officials are making accommodations for students affected by a power outage that occurred on campus early Tuesday afternoon.

Power restored to all buildings .

Crews worked through the night to restore power to all University buildings affected by Tuesday's outage. An e-mail was sent at 5 a.m. Wednesday by the facilities department noting that services, including electricity, heat and hot water, have been restored to all dormitories and administrative buildings affected by the outage, which occurred early Tuesday afternoon. 

Summer construction focuses on residential colleges .

This summer will mark a culmination of the physical manifestation of the new residential college system on campus. Whitman College, the 255,000-square-foot complex between Dillon Gymnasium and Baker Rink, will be finished after four summers of intense construction work. The completion of the University's sixth residential college will make possible the launch of the new system.

The launch of the new four-year residential college system marks the completion of one of the largest construction projects in Princeton history, Whitman College, and moves the focus of campus construction onto two new major science facilities and the rebuilding of Butler College.

After three summers of intense construction work, two major projects on the Princeton campus are nearing completion. 

7:04 P.M. OCT. 30 UPDATE: University limits electricity consumption to critical services only .

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, most buildings on campus are running on limited power from the University’s cogeneration plant, and it is not clear when normal power supply from the public grid will resume. Because of the limited electric power, the University will temporarily close all administrative buildings and most academic and athletic facilities. Access to laboratories will be strictly limited through at least Wednesday, Oct. 31. Decisions about when the University will be fully open will be made on a day-to-day basis.
