Mechanical Properties

· Constant, low strain-rate uniaxial stress-strain curves for several materials are shown:
(a) Al₂O₃ ceramic, only elastic deformation, (b) Low carbon steel: elastic and plastic deformation, (c) Cross-linked rubber: a non-linear elastic response, [note scale changes] and (d) PMMA: a viscoelastic response.
