| The
strain-rate, (de/dt),
is the time rate of change of the strain experienced by a material.
In a tensile testing machine the strain-rate is one of the controlled parameters for a plastic deformation measurement. Material properties may be strain-rate dependent. A material may exhibit ductile behavior at low strain-rates but behave in a brittle manner under high strain-rate conditions. |
