Solids: Thermodynamics and Bonding

· When Hybridized bonds occur, their type will determine the crystal structure. Carbon is a good example of this behavior.
· Carbon in the (sp² ) bonding hybrid configuration gives the planar Graphite structure.
· Carbon in the (sp³) bonding hybrid state gives the three-dimensional Diamond structure.
