Princeton to resume classes, teaching remotely and continues to support the community wherever it is
Resources outlined for resuming spring semester through online instruction
The spread of COVID-19, or coronavirus, has impacted every facet of the University’s life and every member of its community, from students and alumni to faculty and staff. As Princeton, like its fellow higher education institutions across the country, grapples with a rapidly changing environment, it has implemented a series of policies and undertaken a range of actions to protect the health and safety of the community.
Throughout all of this, Princeton remains committed to its core mission and to supporting those who remain on campus. As President Eisgruber stated in his March 17 message, “even under these unprecedented circumstances, Princeton University will continue to operate and pursue its scholarly mission. I am confident that our students, faculty, and staff will bring to bear the creativity and commitment required for this new instructional platform to succeed.”
On Monday, March 23, the University resumes the spring semester through online instruction. Students will log on to take classes, listen to lectures and engage with their professors. Faculty members will continue to innovate to bring knowledge and perspective across the miles instead of across a classroom. And staff will continue to ensure the functioning of this world-class institution, some from home, others on campus, all guided by the state of New Jersey’s policies.

Reminder: In the interest of public health, students, faculty and staff are urged to notify University Health Services of all COVID-19 tests by any health care provider in any jurisdiction. This helps with contact tracing, which can potentially mitigate further spread of the virus on and off campus.
And as President Eisgruber said: “I am grateful to all who have accepted, in a spirit of community and care, the responsibility to make sweeping and sudden changes to their way of life to protect the health and well-being of themselves, their families, and others around them. And I am grateful to the many Princetonians who have worked around the clock to make and implement difficult decisions as humanely as possible.”
On virtual learning
The McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning has created a virtual learning resource for undergraduate and graduate students; study hall, individual tutoring, learning consultations and workshops will move online. Students can now schedule online consultations with the Writing Center. Faculty can explore teaching continuity plans and ideas.
Library support
Princeton University Library support for remote research, teaching and learning offers help from wherever you are. Library services continue to be available online and Library staff members are available to work with you. If you have questions or need help, contact the Ask Us service or email a staff member directly. For support with subject specific questions, contact the subject librarians.
On virtual activities
Through the Virtual Community Building website, students can sign up for activities like meditation sessions, fitness classes, professional development workshops and more.
