Dalton Conley, the Henry Putnam University Professor in Sociology, and Shirley M. Tilghman, president of the University, emeritus, and professor of molecular biology and public affairs, have been named 2019 fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) for their scientifically or socially distinguished work.
New fellows will be honored Feb. 15 during the 2020 AAAS Annual Meeting in Seattle, and in the AAAS News & Notes section of the Nov. 28 issue of Science.
Conley is recognized in social, economic and political sciences for outstanding scholarship, including path-breaking research at the intersection of race, class, genetics and health.
Tilghman is recognized in biological sciences for distinguished contributions to the field of developmental biology, as well as outstanding leadership as president of Princeton University. Tilghman was president of Princeton from 2001-13.
