By the numbers: University raises funds for United Way

United Way officials and Princeton University representatives gathered April 23 on campus to acknowledge the $128,998 raised for the United Way in this year’s campaign.
Of that total, the campaign raised $113,561 in contributions from faculty, staff and retirees -- $82,460 from the main campus, $14,905 from the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, $10,862 from retirees and $5,334 from fundraising events held by University departments. The University matched gifts with 15 cents on the dollar for every payroll deduction contribution and 10 cents on the dollar for all other gifts, for a total institutional match contribution of $15,436.
In addition to supporting the United Way of Greater Mercer County’s (UWGMC) Community Impact Fund, employees elected to distribute their support directly to UWGMC programs. Donations helped provide meals to the Strike Out Hunger campaign, supply education kits for local school children, fund college-admission support for area teens, and bridge the digital divide by providing internet access to local families.
All donations will be distributed to United Way programs in Mercer County or employees’ home communities, or to other health and human services agencies that were designated by individual donors.
