FACULTY HONOR: Three elected to American Philosophical Society

Three Princeton faculty members have been elected to the American Philosophical Society. They were among 34 humanists, scientists, social scientists and leaders in civic and cultural affairs selected this year for their extraordinary intellectual accomplishments and leadership.

Among those elected this spring are the following Princeton faculty members: John Fleming, the Louis W. Fairchild '24 Professor of English and Comparative Literature, Emeritus; Martin Kern, the Greg '('84) and Joanna (P13) Zeluck Professor in Asian Studies; and Thomas Shenk, the James A. Elkins Jr. Professor in the Life Sciences.

FACULTY HONOR: Ashenfelter, Case elected to American Philosophical Society .

Orley Ashenfelter, the Joseph Douglas Green 1895 Professor of Economics, and Anne Case, the Alexander Stewart 1886 Professor of Economics and Public Affairs, have been elected to the American Philosophical Society.

Princeton awards six honorary degrees .

Princeton University awarded honorary degrees during Commencement exercises Sunday, May 16, to six individuals for their contributions to education, literature, public health, public service, science and social justice. Princeton President Christopher L. Eisgruber awarded degrees to Jon Bon Jovi, Linda Caldwell Epps, John V. Fleming, Rush Holt, Risa Juanita Lavizzo-Mourey and Constance Mercer Myers.

Innovation funds awarded to support natural sciences, humanities projects and industry collaborations .

Seven innovative projects have been selected to receive Princeton University's Dean for Research innovation funds, which, now in their second year, enable faculty members to pursue bold new ideas.
