Student work: 'Specks of Dust' documentary by former Bridge Year students to premiere

"Specks of Dust," a documentary by Princeton University junior Azza Cohen and Class of 2014 graduate Shaina Watrous, will have its premiere screening at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23, in McCormick Hall, Room 101, and at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, in the James M. Stewart '32 Theater at 185 Nassau St. The documentary follows the lives of individuals fighting for justice for the survivors of human trafficking in Varanasi, India. The film was inspired by Cohen's and Watrous' participation in Princeton's Bridge Year Program, where they spent nine months in India doing community service work at the nonprofit organization Guria. Guria's founder, Ajeet Singh, also is expected to attend the film screening.

Bridge Year alumni: Where are they now? .

In fall 2009, 20 students became pioneers of Princeton University's Bridge Year Program. They journeyed across the world to spend nine months before their freshman year doing community service work, learning new languages and experiencing cultures and customs unknown to them. Today, those students are young alumni one year out of Princeton whose experiences on campus and paths after graduation were influenced by their participation in Bridge Year.

Princeton senior Cohen receives Mitchell Scholarship to study in Ireland .

Princeton University senior Azza Cohen has been named a George J. Mitchell Scholar to study culture and colonialism at the National University of Ireland (NUI) Galway. The Mitchell Scholarships were awarded to 12 students nationwide by the nonprofit U.S.-Ireland Alliance based in Washington, D.C.

Eight students receive 2015 Spirit of Princeton Award .

Eight students have been named winners of the 2015 Spirit of Princeton Award, honoring Princeton University undergraduates for positive contributions to campus life. The award recognizes those who have demonstrated a strong commitment to the undergraduate experience through dedicated efforts in student organizations, athletics, community service, religious life, residential life and the arts.

Students recognized for achievements and leadership at Class Day .

Members of Princeton University's Class of 2016 gathered in the Princeton University Chapel Monday, May 30, to celebrate the conclusion of their undergraduate careers in a Class Day ceremony honoring their accomplishments and service.

Student work: 'Paris, Ni Hao' .

The film "Paris, Ni Hao" follows eight first- and second-generation Chinese immigrants in Paris to provide an intimate look at immigration and the mixed emotions surrounding it. The film, created by junior Sharon Deng with support of the Martin A. Dale '53 Summer Award, will premiere at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20,  and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, in McCormick Hall, Room 101. The event is free and open to the public, and the film is in French and Chinese with English subtitles.
