The University of Maryland defeated Princeton University 85-70 on Monday evening in the second round of the NCAA women's basketball tournament.
The defeat was the first of the year for Coach Courtney Banghart and the Tigers, who finished the season 31-1. The loss came on Maryland's home court, the XFINITY Center.
The Terrapins, who are seeded No. 1 in the Spokane region of the tournament, advanced to face Duke.
The Tigers, seeded No. 8 in the region, traded leads with Maryland through the first half, which ended with Princeton trailing 42-38. Maryland opened up a big lead early in the second half and never relinquished it.
Senior Blake Dietrich led Princeton with 26 points.
