C.K. Williams, an acclaimed poet and faculty member at Princeton University whose writing embraces the full breadth of the human experience, died Sept. 20 of multiple myeloma at his home in Hopewell, New Jersey. He was 78.

Being composed: The art of learning to write music .

What does composing music look like? At Princeton, composition is taught at the undergraduate and graduate level. In this story, four members of the Department of Music describe their creative process, the surprising upside of learning composition at a liberal arts university versus a conservatory, and the challenges and rewards of developing and performing new work. Festival of the Arts brings together community, campus to fête new Lewis Arts complex .

During a four-day Festival of the Arts, Oct. 5-8, Princeton University celebrated the opening of the new Lewis Arts complex with more than 100 events, taking audiences on a journey of the arts through the ages and around the world.

Forward Fest public conversation series with faculty experts and alumni continues as part of A Year of Forward Thinking .

Video feature: 'Hero': The making of a senior thesis .

Eamon Foley, a member of the Class of 2015, was an anthropology major who also earned a certificate in theater. For his theater thesis, he blended his academic studies in ethnography — the process of studying a culture through observation and interviews — with his professional experience as a performer to create an original theater-dance piece titled "Hero." The show tells the story of a young man transformed by his experiences in the Vietnam War through indie rock music, dance and aerial choreography.
