Student work: 'The Producers'

The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater at Princeton University will present "The Producers," Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan's hit musical adaptation of classic 1968 film comedy, at 8 p.m. March 7-12 in the Berlind Theatre at McCarter Theatre Center. The production features seniors Mary Lou Kolbenschlag and Evan Thompson and is directed by Ethan Heard, lecturer in theater and the Lewis Center for the Arts, with choreography by junior Eamon Foley. Eamon Foley, a member of the Class of 2015, was an anthropology major who also earned a certificate in theater. For his theater thesis, he blended his academic studies in ethnography — the process of studying a culture through observation and interviews — with his professional experience as a performer to create an original theater-dance piece titled "Hero." The show tells the story of a young man transformed by his experiences in the Vietnam War through indie rock music, dance and aerial choreography.

Princeton Summer Theater explores the timelessness of myth .

Princeton Summer Theater will immerse audience members in multiple facets of myth and storytelling, presenting four mainstage plays and a children's show in eight weeks. The season runs June 18 through Aug. 8 in Hamilton Murray Theater on the Princeton University campus.

Roger S. Berlind, a member of Princeton’s Class of 1952, former University trustee, Tony Award-winning producer, and a supporter of the arts and humanities at Princeton, died of cardiopulmonary arrest Dec. 18 at his home in Manhattan. He was 90.

Students bring learning to stage in Spring Dance Festival .

Many students come to Princeton with a talent for dance already well established. Others begin to explore dance as a new passion as part of their undergraduate experience. For all of these students, the annual Spring Dance Festival offers an opportunity to bring months of dance study and rehearsal to the stage, performing works by celebrated choreographers as well as original pieces students had a role in creating.

Works by faculty, guest and student choreographers will be performed in Princeton's annual Spring Dance Festival, "Spring Into Dance," Friday through Sunday, Feb. 20-22, at the Berlind Theatre.

A version of the classic Russian play "Boris Godunov" that was unrealized in the era of Soviet censorship some 70 years ago will have its world premiere at Princeton University in four performances April 12-14 at the Berlind Theatre.

Students perform in Spring Dance Festival .

More than 50 students from a range of academic departments will perform in Princeton's annual Spring Dance Festival Friday through Sunday, Feb. 19-21, at the Berlind Theatre. Performances are slated for 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. Sunday. The event is sponsored by the Program in Dance in the Lewis Center for the Arts.
