Princeton University provided a second dose of the meningitis B vaccine to recommended campus groups Monday through Thursday, Feb. 17-20, with 4,404 individuals vaccinated by the end of the fourth day. Another 305 individuals received the second dose last month.
The first dose of the meningitis B vaccine has been provided to 5,471 individuals, representing 95 percent of the approximately 5,800 University community members who were eligible to receive the vaccine.
A second dose of the vaccine is needed for full immunity. Individuals who received only one dose of the vaccine at previous campus clinics are still at an increased risk of getting meningitis.
Students who had not yet received the first dose of the vaccine could do so Feb. 17-20, and will have an opportunity to receive the second dose at a later time.
