Student Work: 'A Steady Rain'

The Lewis Center for the Arts presents a senior thesis production "A Steady Rain" at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, to Sunday, Jan. 13, at the Marie and Edward Matthews '53 Acting Studio, 185 Nassau St.

Seniors Lily Akerman and Samantha Ritter will stage a production of Shakespeare's "The Tempest" at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8 and 9, and Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 14 to 16, in the Matthews Acting Studio, 185 Nassau St. Akerman will play the lead role of Caliban in this senior thesis project, which features marionettes created by Ritter, who studied marionette making in Prague. Student work: 'Mad Forest' .

Based on ethnographic research, Caryl Churchill's "Mad Forest" gives a personal look into the exceptionally brief events of the Romanian Revolution. Directed by junior Nico Krell, designed and dramaturged by senior Sydney Becker, this production's performances are Jan. 12-13 at 8 p.m., Jan. 14 at 2 and 8 p.m., and Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. in the Matthews '53 Acting Studio at 185 Nassau St. A talkback with Associate Professor of English Tamsen Wolff follows the performance on Jan. 12.

Student work: 'Uncle Vanya' trailer .

The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater at Princeton University will present "Uncle Vanya" by Anton Chekhov, directed by faculty member R.N. Sandberg and featuring senior Zachary Salk as Vanya, at 8 p.m. Oct. 18, 19, 23, 24 and 25, in the Matthews Acting Studio at 185 Nassau St. A talk-back discussion with Princeton theater lecturer Mark Nelson will be held following the Oct. 24 performance.

Student work: 'Annie & Rose' .

In "Annie & Rose," two seniors in the Program in Theater at Princeton University's Lewis Center for the Arts offer a unique, theatrical exploration of two strong, iconic female characters of the American musical stage, Annie Oakley and Rose Hovick. Presentations will take place at 8 p.m. March 4 and 5 and at 8:30 p.m. March 9-11 in the Marie and Edward Matthews '53 Acting Studio at 185 Nassau St. A talkback with Professor of Theater and musical theater scholar Stacy Wolf follows the presentation on Wednesday, March 9.

Student work: 'Margo in Margoland' .

The new play "Margo in Margoland" will be performed at 8 p.m. April 18-19 and 24-26 at the Matthews Acting Studio at 185 Nassau St. In this magical realist adaptation inspired by the Greek myth Medea, Margo falls into her imagination, where she discovers that the pain and betrayal of her past are much more alive and real than she could have ever imagined. The play is written by senior certificate student Rachel Alter, directed by senior certificate student Caroline Slutsky, and choreographed by sophomore Adin Walker.

Cara Tucker '12 directs her senior thesis production of the classic German play, "Woyzeck," March 9-10 and 14-16 in the Berlind Theatre at the McCarter Theatre Center.
