The American Association for the Advancement of Science has named David MacMillan, A. Barton Hepburn Professor of Organic Chemistry; N. Phuan Ong, Eugene Higgins Professor of Physics; and Michael Oppenheimer, Albert G. Milbank Professor of Geosciences and International Affairs, as fellows for 2010. The professors are being honored by AAAS for their efforts toward advancing distinguished science applications. MacMillan for contributions in the field of chemical synthesis; Ong in magnetic studies; and Oppenheimer for leadership in environmental and climate change policy. The tradition of AAAS fellows began in 1874. Each of the three professors was nominated by one of the society’s steering groups, selected as a finalist, then chosen by the society council.
