Students study, enjoy breaks during Reading Period .

In 1928, The Daily Princetonian's editorial board wondered if scheduling a formal study time between classes and final exams — a Reading Period — would be valuable. Fast-forward nearly 90 years and the answer is yes. Princeton University students spent the past week-and-a-half on campus finishing final papers and projects, and studying for fall-term exams scheduled Jan. 13-23.

Student work: 'Spring Awakening' .

The winner of eight Tony Awards, including best musical, "Spring Awakening" is the story of a group of teenagers growing up in the repressive world of late-19th-century Germany, and it celebrates youth and rebellion with an electric rock and roll score. This Program in Theater production is directed by Julia Hammer and features John Somers Fairchild as Moritz; both are senior theater certificate students. Performances will be at 8 p.m. March 12-13 in the Berlind Theatre at McCarter Theatre Center.

Striking a chord for Communiversity .

The Princeton University Band struck a chord for town and University collaboration as it opened the annual Communiversity celebration with a concert at the intersection of Nassau and Witherspoon streets on Saturday, April 28. Communiversity annually brings the town and University together for a day of performances, food, games and more. It attracted a large crowd to the downtown and campus areas, which were turned into a colorful fairground with events for students and families alike.

UPDATE: Service scheduled Saturday for former men's squash coach Callahan .

Bob Callahan, a member of the U.S. Squash Hall of Fame honored for his contributions to the game as a Princeton player and as the University's men's squash coach for 32 years, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, after a three-year battle with brain cancer. He was 59.
