Contest seeks sustainable sculpture

Members of the campus and area communities are invited to take artistic license with their recyclables by entering a Trash Sculpture Contest sponsored by Princeton University's Office of Sustainability.

Those planning to enter should respond by Friday, Oct. 15 (extended from Oct. 1). Entries are due Monday, Nov. 2, and finalists will be showcased at the University's Sustainability Open House on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

All artwork must be submitted by teams, which must include at least one child (12 years old or younger) and at least one adult (18 years old or older). There is no limit on the size of a team.

Entries must be made of materials that would have been discarded or recycled. Only adhesive materials or fastening devices do not need to be trash. Artwork must be freestanding (or hanging -- for mobiles) and no more than 7 feet tall, 3 feet wide and 3 feet deep.

Guidelines and entry forms (.pdf) are available online. For more information, contact Laurel Masten Cantor, University creative director, at (609) 258-5734 or lmcantor@princeton.edu.
