Eve Aschheim, senior lecturer in visual arts at the Lewis Center for the Arts, is one of 25 contemporary artists awarded a prestigious grant from the Joan Mitchell Foundation.
The $25,000 award is made annually to acknowledge painters and sculptors nationwide creating work of exceptional quality. Past recipients of the Joan Mitchell Foundation award include Tom Friedman, Tim Hawkinson, Julie Mehretu and Wangechi Mutu.
Aschheim's paintings and drawings have been exhibited at museums and galleries nationally and internationally, with current exhibitions at the Weatherspoon Museum of Art, in Greensboro, N.C., and at the New York Historical Society in New York City. Her drawings recently were acquired by the Museum of Modern Art and the Pierpont Morgan Library, both in New York, and the Yale University Art Museum. Aschheim's work also is held in the collections of other museums in this country and abroad.
Aschheim, who teaches painting and drawing, has been at Princeton since 1991 and was appointed a senior lecturer in 2001. She directed the Program in Visual Arts from 2003 to 2007.
