Dan Rather, Joe Klein to discuss primaries, Feb. 27

Veteran news anchor Dan Rather and Time magazine columnist Joe Klein will lead a "town hall" event titled "Race to the White House: Talking Politics at Princeton University" at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall.

The event, hosted by the University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, will be broadcast live on HDNet television. It will be open to members of the University community and the public who may obtain tickets beginning Friday, Feb. 23.

The discussion will focus on the upcoming presidential primaries. It is scheduled exactly one year in advance of New Jersey's 2008 presidential primary, the state's first in February. Anne-Marie Slaughter, dean of the Woodrow Wilson School, will introduce the program.

Rather anchored the CBS Evening News for 24 years and is now the host of "Dan Rather Reports," a news program airing on HDNet, the first national television network broadcasting all of its programming in 1080i HD, the highest-quality format of high-definition television.

Klein joined Time magazine in January 2003 to write a regular column on national and international affairs. In 1996 he anonymously wrote the best-selling novel "Primary Colors" about the 1992 presidential primaries.

Tickets will be distributed to Princeton University ID holders from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at the Frist Campus Center ticket office on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Two tickets per PUID may be issued; two valid PUIDs may be presented.

Ticket distribution will take place for the general public from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at the Richardson Auditorium ticket office in Alexander Hall on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Two tickets per person will be distributed; a photo ID must be presented.

The event will be simulcast live in McCosh 50 and Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall.

All ticket holders will be required to bring their picture ID to gain entry to the event. No umbrellas, cameras or backpacks will be allowed into the venue.

United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan will deliver a major policy address Tuesday, Nov. 28, hosted by Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. As part of the event, undergraduate students plan to present Annan with the Crystal Tiger award for serving as an "agent of progress."  

Education Secretary Arne Duncan to deliver policy address .

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is scheduled to deliver a speech about the importance of investing in education to enrich American society and the nation’s economy at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall. The talk is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for entry. The event is sponsored by Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke to give lecture Sept. 24--UPDATED .

Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke will give a public lecture at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, in Alexander Hall's Richardson Auditorium on the Princeton University campus. The event is free, but tickets are required for entry. UPDATE: Advance tickets are no longer available following the first two days of ticket distribution. There will be open admission for any unfilled seats shortly before the event begins on Sept. 24. Individuals without tickets who wish to attend the lecture are encouraged to wait in line outside Richardson Auditorium beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Tilghman and Slaughter will discuss women and leadership .

UPDATE: Tickets to this event are now sold out. People without tickets may wait on line outside Richardson Auditorium before the event on Friday afternoon for seating in any unfilled seats. Seating for people on the wait line is not guaranteed.

New Fed Chair Bernanke to speak at conference, Feb. 24 .

Newly appointed Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will deliver a public address at Princeton University at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in Alexander Hall’s Richardson Auditorium. Bernanke’s speech, which is co-sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and the University’s Center for Economic Policy Studies, will be his first public address outside the capital since being confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
