Online vehicle registration delayed

The Web site for faculty and staff members to use for registering their vehicles for University parking has been experiencing technical problems.

The TigerCard/Parking Office planned to offer the online service for the first time this fall beginning Monday, Oct. 17.

A revised announcement will be posted when the site is again functioning.

One goal of the Sustainability Plan adopted by the University in February is to decrease by 10 percent the number of cars commuting to campus on a daily basis by the year 2020 in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and decrease impervious ground cover on campus. Ten percent may not sound like much. But when there are 4,877 faculty and staff with 7,878 parking decals, Kim Jackson comes up with the nice round number of 500 fewer cars.

University launches redesigned website .

The University Feb. 21 launched a redesigned home page and main website intended to be more user friendly and to feature multimedia technology showcasing the accomplishments of students, faculty and staff.

New tool detects malicious websites before they cause harm .

Malicious websites promoting scams, distributing malware and collecting phished credentials pervade the web. As quickly as we block or blacklist them, criminals set up new domain names to support their activities. Now a research team including Princeton University computer science professor Nick Feamster and recently graduated Ph.D. student Shuang Hao has developed a technique to make it more difficult to register new domains for nefarious purposes.

Revise Your Ride encourages Princeton employees to leave cars at home .

Revise Your Ride (RYR) launched last fall to reduce single-occupancy vehicles driving to Princeton and parking on campus. Faculty and staff receive incentives if they participate in one of five commuting programs.

4:30 P.M. AUG. 26 UPDATE - University closed for non-essential staff during Hurricane Irene .

Because of severe weather expected from Hurricane Irene, Princeton University will be closed except for critical and essential staff beginning at midnight Sunday morning, Aug. 28, and lasting through at least 2 p.m. Sunday. An update will be provided after campus conditions are assessed in the wake of the storm. This weekend, many campus facilities will be closed and various scheduled activities will be cancelled in an effort to ensure the safety and security of individuals on campus.

This update to a previous announcement about Princeton's campus safety related to Hurricane Sandy contains new information about libraries. Because of severe weather related to Hurricane Sandy, Princeton University will be closed except for critical and essential staff on Monday, Oct. 29.
