Arch sing to benefit Gulf Coast schools, Oct. 8

"Raise the Roof," a benefit performance for schools damaged by Hurricane Katrina, is set for 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in the Blair Hall arch.

The performance will feature the Katzenjammers, Tigerlilies, Tigertones and other student a cappella groups. It is sponsored by the Cotsen Children's Library.

The waves of music emanate from Princeton's student a cappella singers, who entertain their classmates at arch sings, in addition to concerts and informal shows, throughout the year.

Growing numbers of University community members are offering their time and creativity to Hurricane Katrina relief initiatives, including Princeton's commitment to help Dillard University recover from the storm's destruction.

Efforts by members of the University community to aid victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita are continuing both in the Gulf Coast region and on campus, while an upcoming concert will feature a major New Orleans jazz figure who has brought his talents to Princeton following the disaster.
