The latest college ranking conducted by U.S. News & World Report
has again placed Princeton University at the top of the list.
Princeton tied with Harvard in "U.S. News 2006 America's Best Colleges"
in the category "Best National Universities--Doctoral," which includes
research universities offering a full range of undergraduate majors, in
addition to master's and Ph.D. programs.
Princeton also ranked No. 1 for least debt held by students after
graduation and third for best value. In recent years, the University
has taken major steps to make a Princeton education more affordable for
all students, including replacing loans with grants that do not have to
be repaid for undergraduates qualifying for financial aid.
In response to the rankings, Princeton officials said, "While formulaic
rankings can never provide an accurate reflection of whether a
university may be the best choice for a student, it is gratifying that
Princeton continues to be recognized for the quality of the
undergraduate experience we offer. We are pleased to be considered one
of the nation's many outstanding universities."
