Princeton University has granted admission to 12.2 percent of undergraduate applicants for the Class of 2004, or 1,670 students. In total, 13,654 students had applied.
The admission rate is slightly higher than last year, when 11.3 percent of applicants were accepted from among a record 14,875 applicants.
For the first time, half of those offered admission this year are women. Thirty-five percent of those accepted indicated minority backgrounds, compared to 33 percent last year. Nine percent are international students who do not hold U.S. citizenship, up from 6 percent last year.
