Inside ChatGPT: Startups & AI With the World’s Most Powerful Company
Join us for a conversation with Marc Manara, head of Startups at OpenAI/ChatGPT, on AI’s transformative impact on the entrepreneurial landscape, his company’s role in that transformation, and his view of where the world is heading. We will also hear about his personal journey as a former founder of a foodtech company, and his past experience managing Amazon’s startup program.
This conversation is moderated by EGR 497 Lecturer and Entrepreneurship Specialist, Shilla Kim-Parker.
About the speaker:
Marc leads OpenAI’s (the company behind ChatGPT) work with startups. He is the former co-founder of Farm Hill, a venture capital backed food-tech startup, and before joining OpenAI he led Amazon’s team supporting early stage startups. He graduated from Harvard College with a Bachelor in Computer Science and received an MBA from Stanford. He lives in the Bay Area with his wife and two kids.

Shilla Kim-Parker is a Lecturer and Professional Specialist at Princeton, teaching EGR 497 year-round. She is also the Vice President of Digital Labs at American Express, an innovation incubator, and the founder of Thrilling, a venture-capital backed platform for thousands of small businesses across the United States. Thrilling was ranked by Fast Company as one of the top ten most innovative retail companies of 2022 and Shilla was named by Inc. as one of the top female founders of 2022. Shilla began her career as an investment banking analyst at J.P. Morgan, then led Strategy and Business Development at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and then went on to serve as Chief of Staff for Disney ABC. Shilla currently serves on the boards of Goodwill New York/New Jersey and Bank Street School of Education, and is an Aspen Institute Henry Crown Fellow. Shilla holds a Bachelor in Economics from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
