Paradise Lost? Childhood and its discontents in the photographs of Sally Mann
Inspired by the exhibitions Gainsborough’s Family Album and Confronting Childhood, Sarah Kennel ’92, the Byrne Family Curator of Photography at the Peabody Essex Museum, explores the portrayal of childhood in the work of Sally Mann and other American photographers, including Emmet Gowin, Mary Ellen Mark, and Diane Arbus. A reception will follow.
