Julia began her dance training at age three in tap and ballet at the Winnetka Community Center and the Evanston School of Ballet in the Chicago area. After moving to Minneapolis at age eight, she continued as a competition dancer at Summit School of Dance, now known as Summit Dance Shoppe. Julia trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, and hip hop at SDS for ten years, and choreographed several tap and lyrical pieces in high school. She earned top awards in solos, small groups, and production lines on the regional and national level at Showbiz, PrimeTime, Starquest, American Dance Awards, and Starpower competitions, among others. Her junior year, Julia’s line earned the Showbiz Icon Award at the Showbiz Regional Competition in Minneapolis. She also took first place Age 16 Tap Solo at Showbiz Nationals in Las Vegas that summer. Julia misses her days as a small town Minnesota girl, but out east, she couldn’t be happier to be dancing with her BodyHype family! At Princeton, she has taken classes in the dance department and is also a member of Business Today and Princeton Against Cancer Together. She continues her training not only with the company, but also solo in the studio in the early mornings and at any eating club with music and a dance floor. After changing her intended major not once, not twice, but three times, Julia is pursuing a history major with a certificate in American Studies.
