More information about ASL classes available on campus.
In Spring 2014, Campus Recreation, partnering with the Office of Disability Services, offered a variety of non-credit ASL classes at Dillon Gym. These proved to be very popular, and many students were able to learn ASL.
While these non-credit classes are no longer offered, PUASL is excited to share the news that the University's Linguistics department is offering a for-credit course on ASL! This course, "Linguistics of American Sign Language" (LIN 312), is taught by a Deaf professor and will include a linguistic analysis of ASL, covering phonology, syntax, and semantics. Check out the official course description for more details.
We are still working with the University administration to explore the possibility of offering additional for-credit ASL courses in the near future. Stay tuned for further developments!
