Composite Materials

· The data shown for a glass-fiber epoxy-matrix short fiber composite indicates that fibers with a length 10 L_c yield a strength equal to that of the equivalent continuous fiber system.
· For both composites:
V_f = 0.26, σ^*_f = 1.8 GPa,
σ^*_m = 91.5 MPa, and the fiber diameter, 2r = 12.7 μm
