The Mixed dislocations is the most general type of unit dislocation and has an arbitrary angle between its line vector and Burgers vector. b is a constant of the dislocation.
The dislocation line does not need to be straight, and this will change the nature of the local distortion along the dislocation.
For the case shown, screw character is shown at A, whereas at B the dislocation is edge type.
At intermediate locations the dislocation has both edge and screw components, their magnitudes depending on the angle between b and t.
