Compressor
The compressor does work on the freon gas
compressing, it from the low pressure, low temperature inlet gas to the high
pressure, high temperature outlet gas. Thermometers and pressure gauges at
these locations permit the state change across the compressor to be determined.
The
work required by the compressor is provided by an electric motor.
The indicating watt meter shows the power supplied to the electric motor.
How does this relate to the work done on the freon by the compressor?
How would you determine the efficiency of the electric motor and the efficiency
of the compressor pump? Is heat added to the freon in the compression process?
Can you verify this by consulting the pressure/enthalpy
or Temperature/
entropy charts for the freon working fluid? |
