Property Definitions

The physical properties are defined using ANSYS 'R' command. If more than six real constants need to be input, the 'RMORE' command is also used. The interface program assigns a number to each physical property definition and this number is used in the 'REAL' command for the elements definition.

Some element types need physical property definitions, others do not. The interface will issue a warning if an element requires a physical property and none has been assigned or if a property is required and an incorrect property type has been assigned. In some cases, more than one property type may be used to define the real constants of an element and the types that are supported by the interface program for each element are listed in tables A.1 and A.2 of Appendix A. For example one can use the THICKNES property for the defaults for some elements or GENERAL if the user wishes to specify more detailed information.

Physical property data is defined in FEMGEN using the command 'PROPERTY PHYSICAL ...', and applied to parts or sets using the command 'PROPERTY ATTACH ...'. The following physical property types are available under the 'PROPERTY PHYSICAL' command:
