When processing the topology the interface program makes note of the property card which an element references (for the CONROD element this is a material card identifier). This information is passed to FEMVIEW as a material number and the user can use it in a similar manner to the group number. The material number is used by the interface program during averageing of stresses to denote regions. Averaging is only performed within a region and so discontinuities can be accounted for.
