Introduction |
|
Cao Yu’s Thunderstorm (in Chinese: 雷雨, Lei Yu) is a classic and undoubtedly one of the most popular Chinese dramatic works. The plot of Thunderstorm centers on one family's psychological and physical destruction as a result of incest, as perpetrated at the hands of its morally depraved and corrupt patriarch, Zhou Puyuan. The complex relation -ships between family members and conflicts between social classes make this a grippingand occasionally suffocating play. PCT’s adaptation of this play shortens the original 4-hour play to a two-and-half-hour production, keeping the essence and exploiting the rich ideas the playwright bequeaths the director, the actors and the audiences.
Directed by Xiaoyang Long '12 and Yupeng Liu '12 |
