In
the past several years the School of Architecture has initiated
international programs that have proven beneficial for all student
and faculty members involved.
Informal
relationships have been established with several European schools,
including the Architectural Association in London and the School
of Architecture at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen.
A
formal five-year program, organized as a joint design studio with
different Chinese universities, began in the fall of 1996.
Students
and faculty from the Department of Architecture, University of Hong
Kong, and the School of Architecture, TongJi University participated
in the first joint design studio.
As
part of the program, Princeton students traveled to Hong Kong and
Shanghai for a week of exchange and discussion.
This
program will continue for the next several years under the direction
of Mario Gandelsonas.
In
the Spring of 2001, the School of Architecture initiated a new formal
three-year
program, also organized as a joint design studio, with the National
University of Singapore.
