• Initialize by dividing the 128-bit input into 64-bit words

• Processing occurs through 16 rounds of a balanced Fiestal network (i=1..16, SK == subkey number)

• Decryption proceeds by running the rounds in reverse
  • Equivalent to encrypting with the subkeys in reverse order
