6. Performance

• Encrypt 3 128-bit blocks using 6 DES operations, so the speed is close to Triple-DES

• For Pentium and Pentium Pro: 2000 clocks/block

• For smart card, suffer from the key schedule, need 6 DES encryptions for key generation
