A letter from an alum about the singing of "Old Nassau"

February 27, 2004

Having recently heard my classmates sing "Old Nassau" at the Alumni Day luncheon, I realize that many, if not most, of them still use the original words.

I have no objections to the changes that came with coeducation and use the new words except for one that for a long time I have felt was really wrong.

One does not sing "Hur-rah!" One shouts! I hope that attention might be drawn to this poor selection of words and that an amendment might be made.

In any case, I will continue to use the more appropriate wording.
