A letter from an alum about Marriage and what Professor Hendrik Hartog has to say
Hartog contributes to the liberalization of a core value which only leads to diminished disciplines and a declining culture. Marriage has been the recognized commitment of man and woman to legitimatize and protect their children, recognized by all major cultures for thousands of years. Hartog ignores this fundamental fact, choosing rather to rationalize with vagaries and weakly linked thinking. He would encourage an expansion of the divorce rate. And what is frustrating, the liberalization of core values flows so frequently from institutions like Princeton.
