A letter from a reader: Acceptance number worth celebrating While I continue to hope, fervently, that the Office of Admission will see the wisdom of offering admission to at least one more abundantly gifted young scholar, my wait-listed goddaughter, Kiki, I note with pride and delight the number of offers it chose to make (Notebook, April 23) in the most democratic yet selective process ever conducted by the world's greatest university: 1976. I'm sure my classmates will join me in attesting that it is a number that, in the context of institutional history, resonates with unique promise, heartfelt pride, and incomparable spirit.
