September 26, 2007: From the Archives
It was 69 years ago this fall when these newly arrived freshmen, members
of the Class of 1942, began learning the University’s ropes —
courtesy of Princeton’s Freshman Orientation Committee. Frosh in
their “dinks,” the beanies they were made to wear by the sophomore
class, are, from left, Bruce Wilson ’42, Joe Rutter ’42, and
James O’Brian ’42. Orientation guides sporting identifying
armbands are A.O. Whipple ’39 and Frederick L. Redpath ’39.
