Message from Anish:
"Νενικήκαμεν!"
"Greek:Nenikikamen, We were victorious!"
- Athens, 490 B.C, Pheidippides, a Greek herald who has just brought news of Athenian victory over Persia in the battle of Marathon. Pheidippides has ran 26 miles from Marathon to Athens. With this word upon his lips, Pheidippides dies, in bliss.
Romantic history, but quoted not just for the romance; there is a parallel.
AID's runners are indeed running to bring you news, not of war, nor even yet of victory, but of acts of
courage nevertheless - projects that AID supports in India. AID's activities in India span a
spectrum of development and relief
projects, carried out, in India, by selfless individuals who have made it their lives' work
to spread joy, ease pain and combat poverty and inequity.
We, I, hope that by running we can encourage you to support their efforts.
Regards
Anish
PS: If you know the author, yes, it is amazing that he would think of
running. But here it is :), I really am going to run the Philadelphia marathon.
I have committed to raise $100 for every mile I run, and I would be personally grateful for your support.
