For details about open executive and committee positions please read below. President: Has the big picture of the chapter. Also serves as Chief Administrator and executive of the chapter. Assures that duties are getting done. Presiding over general/executive meetings is a duty of this position. Vice President: Substitute for President in his or her absence, and assist and advise the President; handle publicity, working in conjunction with the Communications Secretary or Press & Publicity Chair. In the absence of such positions, the 1st Vice President acts as the Publicity Chair; update the University email listserv each time a member joins; membership recruitment, making sign-up sheets, and sign-in sheets are duties of the 1st Vice President; update the University Facebook and/or webpage Secretary: Record minutes of the Unit general and executive board meetings, assist the President in corresponding with the National, inform members of events of interest, among other things. Treasurer: Handle all financial issues regarding the Unit, including Data Mall, fundraising, sponsorship, and Chapter dues, among other things. Freshman Representative: Assist and learn from all officers while representing the freshman class, recruiting freshman class, and coordinating at least one initiative with the President Political Action Committee Chair: Preside over the committee that works for legislation that will promote the educational, political and economic status of minorities. This committee also promotes voter education among the public. Education Committee Chair: Preside over the committee that works to promote an awareness of scholarships and history of the NAACP and African Americans. Health Committee Chair: Preside over the committee that works to promote, protect, an maintain the health of African Americans. This committee is to be an advocate to equal access to healthcare for all. The members of the Executive Board, ie. president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, freshman representative, and all committee chairs, are automatically in the Membership Committee, which works to keep chapter membership at compliance level (25). This committee finds innovative ways to retain and recruit new members. They also inform both interested and paid members about meetings & events. |
