Ductility
is a measure of the ability of a material to undergo plastic deformation.
Two measures are used: The percent elongation to fracture and the percent
reduction in area at fracture.
Percent Elongation = {(Lf - L0)/L0} x 100 Percent Area Reduction = {(A0 - Af)/A0} x 100 The subscripts (f, 0) correspond to the final and initial states of the system. |
