Composite Materials

· Fibers do not need to be woven into planar fabrics as the three-dimensional weave shown illustrates.
· Shapes of this type can meet the need for a light core structure to separate two composite skins in a light-strong panel design.
· The three -dimensional composite replaces the more conventional honeycomb structure used in this role, and provides better resistance to delamination at the skin-core interface.
