Composite Materials

· The friction interaction between the matrix and the fiber which is present after debonding and during pullout can be measured at constant strain rate as shown.
· The load displacement curve for pull-out indicates the debonding load and then the "friction" interaction between the fiber and the matrix.
· A non-uniform fiber diameter will increase the friction term and the composite toughness.
